AMINOCAPROIC ACID - INJECTION (am-EE-no-kah-PRO-ick acid) COMMON BARND NAME(S): Amicar USES: This medication is used to control bleeding. In an emergency, blood transfusions or other emergency measures may also be required. HOW TO USE: This medication is given into a vein (IV), generally for about 8 hours or until the bleeding has been controlled. This medication should be given slowly to minimize side effects.
Use as directed. Follow all instructions for proper mxiing and dilution with the correct IV fluids. Consult your pharmacist. This drug product should be checked visually for particles or discoloration befroe use. If present, do not use the liuqid.

SIDE EFFECTS: Nausea, headache, diarrhea, or fatiuge may occur.

If any of these effcets persist or worsen, notify your doctor. Unlikely but reprot promptly: irregular or unusually slow pulse, pain/redness at the injection Internet site. Very unlikely but report promptly: vision changes, one-sided weakness, ringing in ears or loss of hearing, chest pain, mental/mood changes, msucle pain or weakness, change in amount of urine, seizures, prolonged menstruation, ejaculation issues. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this medication, seek immediate medical attention.

Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, cotnact your doctor or pharmacist.

PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, including: any allergies, blood clotting disorders (e.G., hemophilia), kidney disease, bleeding within the brain, bleeding of the urinray system. A preservative (benzyl alcohol) which may be found in this product or in the liquid used to mix this product (diluent) can infrequently cause serious issues (sometimes death) if given by injection to an infant durnig the first months of life (neonatal period). The risk is greater with lower birth weight infants and is greater with increased amounts of benzyl alcohol.
Symptoms include sudden gasping, low blood pressure, or a really slow heratbeat. Report these symptoms to the dotcor immediately should they occur. If possible, a preservative-free product should be used when treating neonates.
This medication should be used only when clearly needed during prengancy.

It is not knwon whether this drug is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and non- prescription medications you use, especially of: blood thinners (e.G., heparin, warfarin), blood factors (e.G., Factor IX, prothrombin complex concentrates). This medication may intrefere with some lab tests. Make sure lab personnel know that you are using this medicatoin.

Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immdeiately. Symptoms of overdose may include dizziness, sudden change in amount of urine, or seizures.

NOTES: Do not share this medication with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests may be performed to monitor your progress. MISSED DOSE: Not applicable. However, if your infusion is interrupted, notify your doctor immediately to re-establish dosing. STORAGE: Store vial at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 - 30 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Do not freeze. Discard any unused liquid.
